The ARRL, as part of the USA 250th Anniversary “Year of the Club” is sponsoring week-long W1AW/portable activations in all 50 states, and potentially in several US Possessions and Territories, that will generate on-air activity to achieve a unique WAS Award.
Colorado’s operational periods are May 26th through June 2nd and Sept. 1st through Sept. 8th. Operators are needed who are proficient at CW, Digital Modes, and Phone. In Colorado, we want to have operators committed to as many operational periods in all our bands 160 meters through UHF.
Operators are required to be residents of Colorado and ARRL Members in good standing. All operators must use an appropriate logging software application that can support an “operator” filed and output ADIF formatted files. The use of Discord for real time coordination and a valid phone number are also required. In addition, any contemplated POTA or SOTA operations must be approved by the W1AW/0 contest committee. Operators must be willing to operate in 2 hour shifts, however multiple shifts will be available for the whole week. The ability to handle large contest style pileups and an operating station capable of making nationwide contacts are both pluses! If you don’t have a great station, but are a good operator, a remote station is available! Please inquire about use of RMHAM’s remote HF station.
